Implementation Day – What is it and why do you need one?

I just finished an Implementation Day… when did you last do one?

So, this week we are talking about Implementation day.

What is Implementation day?

It’s a day dedicated to doing just that, implementing your stuff.
While I was recording the video, I had a great group of ladies upstairs who had dedicated the day to getting stuff done.

You see, they are just like you and me. They have these grand plans and these great ideas, then life happens, business happens, family, kids, friends… stuff happens!!

You have these great plans to create a new opt in and then stuff happens and you just don’t get that new opt in done.

Implementation day was about dedicating a day to getting stuff done. That means not checking your phone, answering your emails, updating your social media, but just dedicating a day to getting stuff done.

I’ve just finished running one here, helping them through things, changing their websites for them and answering questions, but this concept works for you to.

Allocate a day, once a week, once a fortnight, or even once a month where you get stuff done. A day where you don’t see clients, a day when you don’t do things, you don’t go out elsewhere, you just get through the stuff you promised yourself you would do.

I used to do this, I wouldn’t see clients on a Friday. Friday was a day for personal and business administration, and getting things done. I’d see clients and book people in Monday through to Thursday, but not on Fridays. I’m more flexible with that now, depending on how many students I am seeing or how busy I am, but I still like to set aside days to just implement all the stuff that I have to do.

I don’t get up early, or go and see someone, I don’t schedule in Skype calls, I don’t squeeze something else in, because this day is about getting stuff done. Maybe writing that e-book, maybe building that opt-in or landing page… just getting things finished.

So my challenge for you today, is to allocated yourself an implementation day.

Depending on your schedule, it might be a weekend day, a Saturday or Sunday. If you really can’t dedicate a whole day, maybe it’s just an afternoon or an evening, maybe it’s just 3 or 4 hours. You can achieve a hell of a lot in 3 or 4 hours if you really put your head down.

If you are really going to commit to implementation day, for the period that you are implementing (here we are doing 9 – 4) turn social media off, turn your phone and email off and just focus.

I’m not sure if you can hear them in the video, but I could from the room 🙂 I could hear them upstairs having a laugh and a glass of wine, and that’s great. If on your implementation day you’ve got a work buddy who can come around and keep you accountable and work with you, then go for it. Have a great time doing it, but make sure you focus on really achieving things.

So, tell me below…

What do you think about implementation day?
And are you going to schedule one for yourself ?

  1. Yes, I love implementation day, and I will schedule it. I had someone suggest to me yesterday to get a 2017 calendar as well, and plan out the big stuff for two years. Time moves so quickly that it makes sense to go out that far and be able to implement without rushing. As always, excellent video and content.

    1. ooooh Robyn, a 2017 calendar is a great idea. I’m not sure I’m quite ready for that yet, but I get the logic!

Let me know how your implementation day goes. I think I’ll have to plan another one for a couple of weeks time…
