When I was studying life coaching, one of the concepts that really stuck with me was
“Say yes and work out how”
This concept encourages you just to say yes to things, to say yes instantaneously, where you would normally say no.When your brain would normally say “No, I don’t know how to do that”, “No, I’m not good enough for that”, “No, I could never do that”.
For example: Fearful of public speaking and someone asks you to present, just say yes before you have a chance to doubt yourself, then work out how the hell you’ll do it afterwards.
This was a great concept in the beginning of my business. In the first 12 months of my business it opened up a wealth of opportunities and lots of new doors.
I learnt huge amounts in a very short period of time and I was always growing.
It saw me training for the defence force, being a regional ambassador for Business Networking International, it saw me presenting workshops and speaking gigs, present an the bi-annual conference for the Forum Communicators and much much more.
It saw me creating my own websites, and websites for others, creating courses and content, and uploading lots of videos.
And that was amazing.
BUT
There comes a time when the power is no longer in saying yes, but in saying no.
Saying no to things that are not on your currently bulging to do list
Saying no to the people who always want your advice for free, or your time and input for nothing
Saying no to the emotions that aren’t serving you
Saying no to the need for perfection and just creating massive action instead
There is huge power in saying no
Over the last month, I realised more and more, that I needed to start saying no more often… and not just saying yes and working out how.
I needed to start saying no to work and clients that wasn’t truly what I wanted to be doing, or that didn’t meet my current business plans.
And I needed to say no to adding more to my already very large list of projects.
So today, I want you to sit back and look strategically at your business. Where are you saying yes and working out how, and where should you be saying no?
What needs to change within your business, to create what you want?
What are you going to say yes to today, where you would normally say no?
What are you going to say no to today, where you would normally say yes?
