There are many reasons why you might not want to do something yourself…
- You don’t have the time
- You don’t have the skills
- You simply don’t have the desire
- Some other reason I can’t think of right now (add your own option here…)
I feel ya, I’ve often had any combination of those feeling. Right now I’m rocking some serious baby brain, it just feels like mush. I’m going to blame the lack of solid sleep… but it gives me another perfectly good reason to want someone else to do things for me.
Regardless of the reason why, there are plenty of times when you might want to hire someone to help you out along the way.
You might someone just to do it all for you.
You might want to take a course or program to learn from them and improve your own skill set
Or you might want to hire someone for one on one sessions, to increase your skills and get accountability and guidance.
But sometimes it is hard to know where to start, what services you might need, or who to hire.
Did you know…
duct tape marketing
90% of consumers around the world say they trust word-of-mouth from their friends and family above all other forms of advertising.
So, consider me your internet friend… who created this handy little list for you.
Web design:
Ahhhh, websites… I’ve always had a love hate relationship with mine.
If you’re not feeling any love for your website at the moment, then Bec from Bec Waterhouse Media is worth checking out. She’s goes beyond just making something that looks good, but works with you to create content that connects with your client and converts for you.
Copy Writing:
I’m always the first to say that words are not my strong point. In fact, the thought of writing anything used to scare me.
Enter stage left, Jay Crisp Crow. Jay makes words less scary, simple as that. Whether you need your copy done for you, or you want to improve your own word skills, Jay’s the one to watch.
Lead Generation:
You need new leads coming into your business if you want to make sales. (Although flooding your website with a heap of leads won’t fix anything if your website isn’t converting… but that’s a discussion for a different time)
When it comes to all things launching and generating new leads, my go to is Bianca McKenzie
Search Engine Optimisation – SEO
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO for short) is all about making your website Google friendly, so you naturally appear higher in peoples search results. If you don’t want to pay for traffic, and you just want people to find you when they need you… then this is what you need.
When it comes to SEO, one of my all time favourite people is Kate Toon. You can’t hire her to do it for you any more (well, maybe you can… everyone has a price, right?!) but she does have some great courses and resources.
Or spend some time reading all of Sharon Gourlay‘s material. Her background is Travel Blogging, but her knowledge is sound when it comes to ranking websites and articles in a whole range of industries.
Mindset:
Note: You can’t totally outsource the mindset stuff – I know that… but I also know that this is one of the most important times to hire someone to help. No matter how good you are at helping others, we are terrible at fixing our own stuff (you know the plumber with the leaky pipes analogy).
Dealing with confidence, self-worth, impostor syndrome (and honestly, a whole lot more)…. Sharon Chisholm is worth checking out. An interesting mix of life coach, business coach and mental health advocate, she’ll help you get to the root cause of those niggly feelings.
Accounting
If you are in Australia, these are some of my favourite people to help you understand how your business is tracking. Knowing what you are earning, what you are spending, and understanding the tax implications are a vital part of running a successful business… don’t be afraid to find a great accountant you can work with long term.
(If you’re not an Aussie, make sure you find someone in your local area who understands your business model)

Susan from My Business Partner – http://www.mybusinesspartner.com.au/
OBM:
… a what?! An Online Business Manager is someone who manages the business for you, so you can just do the client serving or creative bit. They might run your booking system, deal with your accounts, update your website… or a whole range of things.
Elle Roberts, works specifically with creative and serviced based businesses. She is magic when it comes to all things business strategy and systems. https://www.elleroberts.me/
Or outsource to an agency like Blanca https://blancacreative.com.au/
Branding Photography
My only recommendation for photography is here in Brisbane, simply because she’s the only one you should see! She rocks. If you’re not in Brisbane, fly here to see her. Or fly her to you.

Notes:
While these are my favourite people, they may not suit you. Always do your due diligence before investing in a product or service. The choice is always yours.
I’m not compensated in any way for sharing these peeps. I simply share them because I know they will look after you.
