Get Shit Done Week 1

It is August and welcome to the Get shit done challenge

For the next 5 weeks we are going to focus on the Get Shit Done Challenge.

You see, just like you, I get caught up in “stuff”. It is very easy to be busy, but not necessarily productive. Every now and then I need get head down, and just focus on actually achieving something, rather than going around in circles, spending a whole heap of time online and not really getting anything done.

Which is why for the next 5 weeks, we are focusing on the Get Shit Done Challenge.

Firstly: If you haven’t done so already, and would like to participate, come over and join us in the #RealLifeBiz Facebook group.

Week 1: Setting a really clear goal for the month

I’m sure you already know the importance of goal setting and I’m sure you’ve seen the stats. There was a popular Harvard study, done way back in 1950’s which showed that 83% of Americans in the study didn’t have goals. 14% had a goal, but hadn’t written it, and just 3% of people had actually written their goal down.

The study showed that the 14% of people who had goals, were 10x more successful than the people who had no goals. And the 3% of people who wrote their goals down, where another 3x more successful that those who had a goal and didn’t write it down.
(There are mixed stories as to whether or not this study was true, but you can read about a more recent, similar study here: https://sidsavara.com/why-3-of-harvard-mbas-make-ten-times-as-much-as-the-other-97-combined/ )

True or not, it is clear that having a specific goal, written down, will get you further than not having a goal at all.

But we are going to take that one step further.

I want you to set a goal for August.

What is the ONE thing that you want achieve in August? And I want you to be very specific.

So not just “I want new clients”, but “I want 5 new clients”
Or not just “I want to make more money” but “I want to bank $10,000”
Or not just “I want to work on my website” but “ I want to have a fully functioning membership site launched by August 31st”

There is a difference between the first examples and the second.
For example, if you want to build an online course as part of the challenge, what does that mean?
How many modules will it have?
Will it be ready for beta testers? Or will it be ready for clients?
Will all the videos be recorded? Or do you just mean getting the content written?
Did you mean getting the tech done and it fully functional as well, or just some of the stuff from the list above?

You see, unless you are really specific, it won’t just be hard for you to work out what you want to achieve, but IF you achieved it or not.

That is one of the biggest problems I see with people when they set goals. They write something, but then they don’t actually look at if they achieved it, or if they are on track, or anything like that.

So, come on over to the #RealLifeBiz group, and tell us, what is your very specific goal for August.

And if you are watching this video later than the first week of August, don’t worry, you can still come and join us and have a real push at the thing you are trying to achieve.

Over the next couple of weeks we will look at how you can track that goal, how you can stay on track, and how you can work towards actually finishing that one big thing of yours.
