Change is as good as a holiday…

If you can hear me over the birds that is…

You know the saying, that a change is as good as a holiday – well, I’m a firm believer that when it comes to getting shit done in your business this is very true.

So this week I went across to the other side of town for the week, packed a bag and stayed away for 3 days.

And used this time to get some huge projects done ๐Ÿ™‚

Taking yourself away from normality, away from your standard work area and all the things that happen around you is a great way to refocus, gain some inspiration and really get some time to get shit done.

I’ve used this before.

A couple of nights away at the Hilton, working hard during the day and rewarding yourself with room service, the spa, a massage and a lovely dinner is a such an awesome way to achieve great things in your business.

So this week I challenge you, to take some time out. Dedicated time away from everything else, to get stuff done.

You don’t have to go away like I did. You can work from somewhere different for a day, take your laptop down to the park or the lake, go work from a different office space… anything you like.

Things to remember:

– Dedicate the time. That means no social media, no faffing around with email. If you’ve gone to all the effort to go away and get stuff done, then really focus and get through it.

– Set clear goals. Make it very clear what you are going to achieve across the time frame, so that you know what you need to get done

– Set time frames. Set clear working hours and a reward system. If you’ve worked hard then you deserve to be rewarded for it.

So tell me, have you used this technique before?

What will you go away to work on?

  1. This is a great tip! I’ve used it several times, and my getaway has often been to a public library somewhere. I simply pack my things and a lunch and spend the day there churning stuff out.
