Breathing Room is one of those books that looks at decluttering… but honestly this book is so much more than that.
It looks at how clutter effects our thoughts and feelings, and how we can set intentions for a room based on the things we decide to keep in it.
Take a moment to think about your bedroom. How do you want to feel in your bedroom? (Maybe calm, relaxed, loved etc)
Now take a moment to think about the things that you keep in your bedroom. Do they help you feel the way you want to feel? No? Well, then maybe you shouldn’t keep them in your bedroom at all.
The same applies for every room in your house.
I used this concept to think about my workspace. I want to feel productive and creative, but also happy and light hearted… I had to take a look at the stacks of stuff in the room, which wasn’t helping me to feel that way, and think about if I really needed those things in my life.
Try it.
Set an intention for each room or area as you declutter, and use that to help you decide if you should keep an item.
