Book 11: Hands Free Mama

Book 11 in the 52 Books in 52 weeks project

This one was a bit of an eye opener for me.

I recently listened to Hands Free Mama, on audio book in the car, and to be true bits of it really hit home.

The book looks at how we need to be present, especially with our children, rather than continuously be distracted by the many things we are doing.

Let’s be honest, we are all busy… but somewhere in the middle of that we are missing the connections that are really important. We are missing watching our children grow up, we are missing the little things that make them different each day.

I’ll be honest with you here – I didn’t listen to the whole of the audio book. By 3/4 of the way through, I felt like I had heard her message, and that she was simply harping on the same points… but I still found the book (especially the beginning) incredibly thought provoking.

If you don’t go and get the book, at least take a moment to reflect on your life and the time you currently spend with friends and loved ones. Are you constantly distracted? Or are you really making the most of being present with them?
