In this episode Mel Daniels talks to us about using a lead magnet to promote your course.
Mel helps course creators map their client journey so they have a very clear idea about what sort of content they should deliver to their perfect client to move them from one stage to the next.
A client journey is a more connected, relationship-based approach to the traditional sales funnel. This approach helps you think about how you can really use your content to your advantage in your client journey, and the first pivotal point is moving clients from the connect phase to inviting them into the subscribe phase.
This is where a lead magnet comes in. A lead magnet is a piece of content that you provide to your ideal client in exchange for their email address. You are giving your potential purchaser a taste of how you can transform their lives in some way.
So what makes an awesome lead magnet?
- It needs to make sense. There needs to be a logical connection between what your ideal client has discovered through your lead magnet and how you can help them go further in their transformation.
- Make sure it speaks to your ideal client. What can you do right now to help them with a quick win.
- Make it quick and actionable. Understand what their problem is and how you can help them beat it.
- Get it out into the world. No need for fancy bells and whistles, get it published and working for you.
- Need to tell the world about it. There are so many different ways to promote your lead magnet, some examples are a call to action in your blog, a pop up on your website, cross promotions with other business owners.
Mel Daniels is a Content Strategist and Coach who loves to understand ‘why’. Even past her toddler years, she always asked why. She wanted to understand why things worked like they did, why people acted a certain way and why she was the only one who loved peanut butter and sultana sandwiches. Her curiosity has lead her on an interesting life journey from academic achiever to corporate leader, mum extraordinaire and now business owner.
Mel’s purpose is to teach and empower women who want more from their business, on how to use content in a genuine way. She gives them the confidence they need to become more visible, seen as the expert that they are and inspired to take their business to the next level. When she’s not talking about content and client journeys, you will find Mel cheering on her clients from the side-lines. Her other favourite hangouts are the kitchen and gym. Luckily her love of dead-lifting counteracts the amount of baking she consumes. Kind of.
