2020, the year ahead

*Cue terrible joke about having 2020 vision.*

My husband is the king of Dad jokes, and I’ve been dealing with 2020 jokes for far too long already. Hopefully he’ll be over it by the time 2020 actually gets here… right?! (One can only hope!)

I’ve seen so much excitement about the upcoming New Year, it looks like everyone is cleaning out and setting new plans and goals for the year ahead.

I’m much the same…. except why wait for the arbitrary date of January 1st?! I’ve started making some of these changes now, and you’ll see more of them coming soon.

So, if you are curious about where my business is going (and why I’ve made some of the decisions that I have) here’s a run down of what the year ahead might bring.

Templates and workbooks

These have been on my list for far too long… an embarrassingly long time, to be honest.

I want to make structuring your course content and getting your framework right, as easy as possible.
And while I don’t believe there is a “one size fits all” approach when it comes to courses, there are definitely some outlines and guides that can make your life a lot easier when you are just getting started.

So, keep your eye out for a range of download-ables to make your life easier, or to kick start the process.

Why am I doing this:
I wanted to provide options to learn from me, and really entry level prices.
I understand that not everyone can hire someone one on one to build there course, or maybe they just don’t want to… but they might need just a little point in the right direction.
That’s where these come in.

Hire by outcome

I’ve always thought that hiring by the hour seemed silly.
For example; If I hire a VA by the hour… what do I get? What can be achieved in that hour? What are my outcomes?
Same applies if I pay an hourly rate for a website work. Something which might take me hours of fiddling, might only take them 15 min. But that’s because they are so skilled at what they do, not because they don’t deserve to be paid a full hour.

So to make it easier to see what you are getting from a session with me, you will be book most sessions by outcome, rather than by session length. You’ll still be given a rough time frame, but the focus is much more on what you’ll get, not how long it will take us.
For example, rather than booking a 2 hour consult, you’ll be able to book a Course Outline session. You’ll know that during the session we’ll outline your complete course, and then I will draw up an outline document and plan of action for you.

Why am I doing this:
This helps you see exactly what you are getting, allows you to pick and choose the areas you want help with, and makes it easier for me to see trends and patterns (win-win really)

(If in doubt, the ever faithful “Pick my brain” session will still be around for a while)

A group program

Launching in Feb, you’ll see one of my first “Create your course” group programs…. which will hopefully have a much sexier name by then.

It won’t just be an online course, but a full live experience.

Part how to and step by step instructions, part accountability, possibly part done for you… this program will be for those who are ready to get their course up and running.

Why am I doing this:
Working with me this way will be cheaper than paying me to build it for you, simple as that.
It provides an option for those who are ready for the support, but not quite ready for me to just do it all.
I’m looking forward to it. While I’ve run big courses like this face to face, this will be the first time I’ve put my own big program online.

Done for you

Over the past 3 years, done for you services have made up over 90% of my income.
And while it will still be available, I’ll be taking on fewer projects.

Why am I doing this:
Because my time is limited especially after going from 2 kids to 4 kids, over the past 2 years.
I don’t want to work full time hours, I’m careful about how I spend my time.

So, by taking on fewer one on one projects, I can do the work I really want to do and allocate plenty of time to it so you get great results and I don’t feel overwhelmed. See, win-win again.

What about you?

What’s on your list for the year ahead? Any big changes? It seems like it is in the wind.
